Congratulations to Professor Xin Meng, from The Australian National University (ANU), on her recent appointment as an editor of the Journal of Labor Economics.
Published by the University of Chicago, the Journal of Labor Economics is a peak journal in the field of industrial relations and labour, and one of the leading applied economics journals.
An applied economist, Meng works in the ANU College of Business and Economics Research School of Economics (RSE). She is a founding member of the Asian and Australasian Society of Labour Economics, the umbrella of research and communication for labour economics scholars from Asia and Australia. She is also a member of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences.
Meng’s research interests include development economics, labour economics, economics of education, applied microeconomics and economic history. She spent over ten years leading the major research project – the Rural-Urban Migration in China. The project conducted a panel survey of rural-urban migrants for nine consecutive years (2008-2016) and the first three waves of data are available publically. A number of Meng’s research projects have received funding support from the Australian Research Council’s Discovery and Linkage Project schemes, as well as from AusAID, the Ford Foundation and World Bank.
Meng’s work has been published in leading journals including Science, Review of Economic Studies, The Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Labour Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Labour Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Review of Income and Wealth, Journal of Comparative Economics and Journal of Population Economics.
The Director RSE, Professor Rabee Tourky, recognises the positive impact of Meng’s recent accomplishment.
