Professor Trevor Swan was the foundation Professor of Economics at ANU. Trevor Swan is often regarded as the greatest economist that Australia produced. Three Nobel prizes in economics have been awarded for work of which Swan himself was a pioneer – Solow’s, for his work on neoclassical growth models; Klein’s, for macroeconomic model-building and forecasting; and Meade’s, for integrating issues of internal and external balance.
