ECON8007: Mathematical Techniques for Advanced Economic Analysis (MTAEA)

The Research School of Economics will be running a free Summer Maths Course over the Summer break, 8-9 February 2027.

Course description

The course is designed to help students prepare for graduate studies in economics at the Australian National University and is targeted at:
   (i) incoming doctoral students who need a refresher in college level mathematics; and
(ii) master's students who have completed EMET7001 successfully. ECON8007 assists master's students in preparing for the challenging second-year courses in the RSE master programs.

This course will explain and review the mathematical techniques most relevant to economic analysis and understanding. It will build towards optimisation in a coherent manner, with the ultimate objective of enabling students to apply appropriate techniques to optimization problems.
